Osaka, live since 2026, is in KIX1 on Nakanoshima, the island in the middle of the Yodo river that Osaka's business district calls home. We joined JPNAP Osaka with NTT and IIJ, and the first test instance answered Tokyo at 6 ms — fast enough that the engineers filed it under 'expected' and the product team filed it under 'so why did we wait?'.
The site runs 0.26 Tbit/s of edge capacity at a 4 ms local median, with 13 ms to Seoul, 21 to Taipei and 78 to Sydney. It is western Japan one hop closer to Korea: Kansai users get a domestic rack without the Tokyo round trip, and the fleet gets a second Japanese grid, IX and failure domain for the price of one more rack.
