Helsinki, live since 2026, sits in HEL1 in Pitäjänmäki, the district that solved datacentre cooling by selling the heat to the city's pipes instead of the sky. We lit FICIX, signed Arelion and Telia, and the first test instance answered Stockholm at 3 ms — the flattest Nordic latency in the fleet.
The site carries 0.24 Tbit/s of edge capacity at a 3 ms local median, with 14 ms to Warsaw and 15 to Frankfurt. Three milliseconds apart, so choose by users and law. Stockholm's Netnod site is bigger at 0.28 Tbit/s and sits closer to the continent's west — 14 ms to Frankfurt against Helsinki's 15. Helsinki on FICIX is the eastern node — 150 ms to Seoul against Stockholm's 152 — and the natural rack for Finland, Estonia and the users east of the Baltic.
Why would a customer outside the Nordics pick Helsinki?
The price is the same everywhere, so the reasons are latency and redundancy: Helsinki is 3 ms from Stockholm, 14 from Warsaw and 15 from Frankfurt, which makes it a legitimate second Nordic site rather than a curiosity. And for anyone serving Finland directly, a rack in the country beats every cross-Baltic alternative before the first packet is sent.
