Melbourne, live since 2026, is in MEL1 in Port Melbourne, on the docklands edge where the suburb's industrial past meets its fibre present. We joined Equinix Melbourne with Arelion as our single carrier, and the first test instance answered Sydney at 9 ms — a number that read as a polite question: why did the first Australian site take a year to get a partner?
The site runs 0.24 Tbit/s of edge capacity at a 4 ms local median, with 74 ms to Singapore, 81 to Tokyo and 121 to Los Angeles. It is the south-east's second opinion: Victoria's users get a domestic rack, and Australia gets a redundancy pair whose two sites are far enough apart that 'the other one' means something.
