Sydney, live since 2025, is in SYD1 in Alexandria, the inner-south suburb whose warehouses became the city's technology district. We joined Equinix Sydney with Arelion and NTT, and the first test instance answered Melbourne at 9 ms — the fleet's first intra-Australia number, and the moment it became obvious the country would need two racks, not one.
The site carries 0.42 Tbit/s of edge capacity at a 3 ms local median, with 71 ms to Singapore, 78 to Tokyo and 118 to Los Angeles. It is the Pacific's last port of call: the site from which Australian users get a domestic rack and the region's southern routes get their anchor, at the same flat price as everywhere else.
